Curling at High Park Club

As Toronto's oldest curling club, High Park Club boasts five of the best maintained sheets of curling ice in the city.  We welcome all levels of curlers, from novice to well experienced. We have twelve curling sections, from Competitive Men's and Women’s to Social Mixed to Bantam and Junior curlers, that run seven days a week.  For more information on how to become a member of High Park Club, please view our membership page or contact us at (416) 536-8054.

In addition to our bar, we have daily dinner service available throughout the curling season.

Annual fees vary, depending on the number of sections you are a member of. In addition to annual fees, members of all evening sections are required to pay a food minimum for the curling season and a separate amount for a prize fund (prize fund fees vary per section).

During the season we offer learn to curl sessions. These come up as required and requested by members. There is an additional fee for these sessions.

View the Sections and times that we offer. Sign up for current members is in July and for new members we have an Open House in September to answer questions to help you make an informed decision of what section would best suit you.

FAQ

Very simply, no! High Park welcomes and encourages new curlers to join the club each year although spots are limited. In particular, our Friday and Saturday evening sections are geared specifically to welcoming new members into the club and providing them the opportunity to learn to play. A number of our senior members also curl on Friday night, giving new members an opportunity to meet the members who curl other nights and may be looking for new teammates or a person to cover (spare) for them once or twice.
As a new curler, a clean pair of runners is all you need to bring with you. The club has slip on sliders available from the pro-shop for as low as $16.00.
High Park has a collection of brooms available to new curlers. We ask that, if you decide to stick with the sport over a number of seasons, you invest in the purchase of your own broom. This will leave the clubs brooms in better repair long term for new curlers still to come.
You can purchase your equipment at the club's pro shop if we don't have what you are looking for we can order it in for you. Typical turnaround for ordering is less than a week.
Contact our office for an application form. In July our returning members will get first priority back into the leagues but when we know what spots are available we will contact new applicants for the remaining spots that come available in August and September.
Curling fees cover your curling season including (if applicable) play-offs and access to the club all year long. We have a wonderful new patio to enjoy a drink after work during the summer. As a member of the club you are also welcome to participate in the Bonspiels offered by the other clubs within the Toronto Curling Association and the Ontario Curling Association.
No - you can learn the basics of curling safely in less than an hour. You also have the opportunity to attend clinics to improve your skills.
Our office will explain how the various sections operate. Some leagues are team entry, while others are individual. Even if you don't have a team some sections are able to accommodate new players.
Most games are about 2 hours. In addition, you should try to arrive about 10 minutes before your game, and be prepared to stay and socialize after the game. For many people, socializing after the game is the best part. Its standard practice in Ontario Curling clubs the winning team buys the losing team a drink after the game.
Our club has a food minimum for evening sections of $80 for the year. You will also be charged a prize fund (amount determined by each section) for each section you play in. Any late payment of accounts are charged 2% interest monthly.
